Bipasha Basu upset with leaked birthday party video

Bipasha Basu’s crazy birthday party is out there on the internet for all to see. But the leaked video has left the actress miffed as she feels her privacy has been invaded.

“I’m still in shock that my privacy has been invaded! These were private moments from my birthday that were leaked and I am very upset,” tweeted Bipasha.

The actress turned 33 Saturday, and true to her latest song “Ho gayi tunn” from her new release, “Players”, Bipasha seemed to be high in the video. She can be seen dancing around with celebrity friends like Milind Soman, Aftab Shivdasani, Sikander Kher and Abhay Deol, amid a lot of drinks and cheers.

She even cut a quirky cake, with special candles on it, and looked fabulous in a nude-coloured gown. She can even be seen dancing in the washroom with a couple of girls, and later grooving on the dance floor with Sikander.

No wonder Bipasha is so upset.

“Just because we are actors doesn’t mean we are not entitled to our privacy! These troublemakers should just get more productive with their time!” she wrote.

Xavi: Strength isn't everything in football

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has stressed that having talent, rather than physical advantage, is the decisive factor to succeed in football.

Xavi faced critics early in his career when doubters said that the Spain international would not be able to succeed in football due to his slight build.

At 1.70meters, Xavi is one of the smallest footballers around but he has proved his critics wrong, having been recently nominated for the Fifa Ballon d'Or for a third consecutive season.

His playmaking skills have been cited as a key factor for both Barcelona and Spain's success and the 31-year-old believes that technical ability is more important than physical attributes.

Xavi told Sport: "Talent is the decisive factor in football, much more than physical presence. I'm convinced that it's technical quality that makes the difference.

"Back in 2002-03, people told me that I wasn't suited to play in the centre of the pitch as you needed to be physically strong. I have shown you don't need to be a physical player to be a top midfielder."

Xavi is shortlisted in the final three for the 2011 Ballon d'Or award along with Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Injury forces Serena out of Brisbane

Serena Williams has withdrawn from the Brisbane International due to a left ankle injury.

The former No 1 was due to play her quarter-final match at the Brisbane International on Thursday but has been advised to pull out by medical staff.

However, she is hopeful of being to play in the Australian Open later this month.

"I'm disappointed to have to pull out of the Brisbane International," Williams said.

"I have been to hospital and it has been confirmed that I have a left ankle sprain that I probably shouldn't play on. I'm going to take a couple of days off - not too many - and see how I feel. I'm still hopeful of playing the Australian Open.

"It was such an unexpected end to the tournament; I didn't expect to be getting an MRI today. I've had a great time here in Brisbane - the tournament is great, the fans are fantastic and hopefully I'll see them again next year."

Bollywood made Rs 2,590 cr in 2011

Unlike the recession that hit every industry across the globe two years ago, this year’s recession did not hamper Bollywood. The rest of the economy may have reeled under recession, but Bollywood laughed its way to the bank this year. A year-end report by trade analysts revealed that the 120 films that released this year have raked in a total of Rs 2,590 crore, more than making up for the huge losses the industry incurred in the last three years. Experts say it’s been a landmark year for Bollywood.

“The moolah came in from all directions and the net collection at the domestic box office alone is about Rs. 1,740cr. However, the revenue mostly came from 15-20 major movies,” says trade analyst Joginder Tuteja.

“We’ve gone back to making more films for single screens and the masses. The first five months were not that good, but we made up splendidly,” adds trade pundit Atul Mohan.

For the first time, four Indian movies — Ready, Bodyguard, Singham and Ra.One — crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in a year. “The satellite and music rights and other subsidies were also a major source of the revenue. In fact, movies such as Ra.One could have made more money in theatres, but then since the makers sold satellite rights, a large chunk of the audience just waited for the movies to come on air,” adds trade analyst Komal Nahta.

Besides the Rs 100 crore club, there were big grossers such as Delhi Belly, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, The Dirty Picture and Rockstar. The few duds of the year were Game, Dum Maaro Dum, Aarakshan and Mausam. “Last year, small budget movies worked, but this year, of the 80 odd small-budget movies that released, most went for a toss. Only the likes of Ragini MMS and Pyaar Ka Punchnama worked.”

After such a successful 2011, we hope Bollywood keeps entertaining the masses throughout 2012 as well.

Pooja Bedi uninvited to Bigg Boss finale

After Hrithik Roshan, it’s Pooja Bedi’s turn to stay away from the grand finale of Bigg Boss 5, thanks to Salman Khan. Pooja Bedi has revealed that she has been asked to refrain from attending the final event of the reality show in which she was a participant.

“Have been informed by the channel that I’m not to attend finale, despite it being mandatory in my contract,” Pooja posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

“Have asked the channel to state the reason I cannot be there to cheer my friends on. Also, till yesterday, I was to do a medley. What changed?” she added referring to a dance performance that she was slated to do.

Pooja entered the Bigg Boss 5 house on October 2 last year, and was evicted towards the end of November. But towards the end of her stint in the BB house, her closeness to her fellow inmate Akashdeep Saigal aka Sky was very apparent. Hence, recently when host Salman went into the house and apprehended Sky for his wrong doings in the house, the 41-year-old Bedi blasted Salman as she felt that the superstar has hurt Sky. It is believed that her comments didn’t go down too well with Salman and hence the channel decided to keep her away from the Grand Finale. 

In a host of replies to fans’ tweets, Pooja posted, “It’s my perogative to react to the host of my show. If anchors can be unfair to contestants, they have the right to speak up.”

Salman prefers Imran, not Hrithik

Salman Khan may not be the reigning host of Bigg Boss this year as we saw him in hardly any episodes. But he still seems to be the one who has everything his way at the Bigg Boss house.

For the upcoming Grand Finale, the producers of Bigg Boss wanted Hrithik Roshan to grace the occasion thus adding more star power to the finale. Also, Hrithik’s upcoming film Agneepath, co-starring the host of the show Sanjay Dutt, could be promoted at this event. However, the dabangg Salman has put his foot down and decided not to let Hrithik be a part of the show he anchors! Instead, he has now asked Imran Khan to promote Karan Johar's next production Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu on the grand finale. 

Sources from the industry believe that Salman's decision to invite Imran Khan instead of Hrithik on the show stems from his off-screen equation with the respective stars. While he is rather fond of Imran, and has been rather vocal with his praises for the younger actor, the same cannot be said about his equation with Hrithik. 

It can be recalled, that Hrithik and Salman have been sharing cold vibes ever since theGuzaarish spat. So, when he was told that the team of Agneepath, which included Hrithik, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt would grace the grand finale of Bigg Boss, Salman refused to entertain them. A source close to the production unit for the show revealed that Salman made it clear that he is the heart and soul of the show and Sanjay Dutt was only holding up the show in his absence. 

However, considering both Hrithik's and Imran's films are from producer Karan Johar's stable, the filmmaker will be very much a part of the finale.

Well, all that we can say is that the way Salman Khan has the final say in Bigg Boss, it seems he is the Bigger Boss!

AVB: We can still challenge for title

Andre Villas-Boas believes Chelsea can still challenge for the Premier League title after watching his side battle to a 2-1 win over Wolves at the Molineux.

Frank Lampard struck in the 89th minute to give the Blues all three points, after Stephen Ward had cancelled out Ramires' opener.

And Villas-Boas believes Chelsea are still in the running for the title, as long as they manage to string a number of victories together.

He said: "This team is focused on getting the consistency in terms of getting the results.

"If we go on a winning streak of five or six games, which we are capable of, we can be fighting for this league.

"What December proved is that the top teams can drop points. Maybe 90 points becomes a little bit unrealistic bearing in mind the happenings at the top of the table.

"It doesn't mean we are still in it because first, to still be in the race, we need to find the consistency that we haven't got yet."

Chelsea's players made a point of celebrating with the under-fire Villas-Boas after Ramires had netted their opening goal.

Reports emerged last month that Villas-Boas had ordered his side to include the coaching staff in their goal celebrations but the Portuguese said the reaction was more spontaneous than that.

Villas-Boas said: "It's just part of them showing the unity of the team and what the team have been doing.

"I think after the recent happenings in the home fixtures, where we lost points, it is normal for stories to come out, speculation about untrue things going on.

"I didn't know the celebration was coming. If you like to be speculative, that's your choice, but if you take that route, you're not being correct."

Lampard admitted he was lucky to still be on the pitch when he scored Chelsea's late winner, accepting he was fortunate not to be sent off for a sliding challenge on Wolves winger Adam Hammill mid-way through the first half.

The 33-year-old escaped with a yellow card from referee Peter Walton - one of five bookings in an eight minute spell - and then netted Chelsea's winner with just two minutes remaining.

Lampard said: "My heart was in my mouth over that challenge. I have to admit that.

"There was no malice, and I honestly mean that, but I was late and I might have been a bit lucky to stay on the pitch.

"I said straight away to Hammill that I was very sorry. I was just a bit late on it.

"I was trying to get my foot in and I was maybe lucky but it wasn't any conspiracy between the ref and us.

"There were a few things that could have gone either way today [Monday]. It was a full-blooded game and I just apologised to the player because I was a bit late."

Villas-Boas, meanwhile, is not expecting a quick resolution in his bid to sign Bolton defender Gary Cahill despite the two clubs agreeing a fee.

"It's an ongoing process. I never thought it would be solved quickly," he said of the move.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was incensed with his side's defending for the winning goal from after Stephen Ward had equalised with six minutes remaining.

He said: "I had a proper snarl at the players because that defending was not acceptable.

"It was tough to take. I am livid we conceded a goal in that way. We should have defended the situation.

"We worked hard to turn things around and when you get back to 1-1, you have to make sure you hold onto what you have got."

McCarthy refused to point the finger at Lampard after he had converted a cross from Ashley Cole.

He said: "Whether Frank was on the pitch is irrelevant if we had defended properly.

"Let everyone else decide that (whether he should have been sent off). I'm not interested.

"If Frank says he is lucky not to be sent off, then bully for him."

Wenger slams referee after loss

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hit out at referee Lee Probert for changing the course of the game at Fulham after his side lost 2-1 on Monday.

The Gunners looked set for a fifth victory in six away Barclays Premier League matches until the home side's late comeback at Craven Cottage.

Steve Sidwell and Bobby Zamora netted in the final minutes of the match to secure Fulham a 2-1 win, with the catalyst seemingly Johan Djourou's red card for a second bookable offence 12 minutes before time.

Wenger was furious after the match, arguing that neither of Djourou's challenges were worthy of a yellow card and that his side should have been awarded a penalty for Philippe Senderos' first-half challenge on Gervinho.

"The referee influenced the game in completely the wrong way, in my opinion," Wenger said.

"We cannot influence that.

"We had a good first half and in the second half we were tired in the last 10 minutes. We lost the game because we were down to 10 men.

"The first yellow card was not a yellow card. The second yellow card was a foul for us.

"There was a 100% penalty for us in the first half and that is that, plus the fact we did not take our chances in the first half made the difference.

"In the end I think it was very unlucky to lose a game with 10 men.

"When you see that we finished the game with 10 men it is very difficult to take and that makes a massive difference when you played 48 hours before. It is too difficult."

Wenger also apportioned some blame on Fulham, whom he claimed had attempted to get Djourou sent off.

"When Djourou got the first card, every time he intervened they went down to get him a second yellow and he did nothing at all," he added.

"I saw it coming, you know. When they brought on [Kerim] Frei they looked for a second yellow card on Djourou and they got it."

He added: "I do not need to make stories for newspapers. I tell you the game I have seen. I don't care about the rest.

"I just felt that every time Djourou was on the fringe to get the second. You can watch the game [again]."

Fulham boss Martin Jol laughed off Wenger's comments.

"Maybe he could accuse me of trying to do something, but I don't think players can do that," he said.

"The only thing I did was put Kerim Frei on the flank and he is an exciting player.

"He wanted to go one-v-one all the time and that was probably the problem for Djourou.

"He probably could have had a second booking before that, to be fair."

While Arsenal felt aggrieved after the match, defeat would have been cruel on Fulham after a spirited performance.

"I am relieved after any game when we get the points on the board and against a top side like Arsenal," Jol said.

"We did it before against Liverpool and Chelsea so we have some players with excellent quality who can make the difference as you saw.

"We didn't play particularly well in the first 25 minutes.

"We played a bit differently in central midfield, we tried to screen and play zonally.

"After that we matched them up in midfield and that gave them a problem."

"It was amazing...we played ever so well in the second half.

"Sometimes if you can't score at the right times you end up with a draw but I think in the end the win was deserved."

On Djourou's red card, the Dutchman added on Sky Sports 1: "To be fair he could have maybe had a second booking earlier so maybe he (Wenger) didn't want to see that. I don't think there's a problem - a second booking is a red card, that's a normal thing.

"He could have had a point with the penalty but you can see he (Philippe Senderos) tried to get the ball so it would have been a soft penalty."

Jol was quick to praise Zamora's part in the performance after the match, having recovered from an Achilles problem to volley home the winner.

The pair's relationship has come under scrutiny over recent months but Jol was pleased to see him hit the headlines for the right reasons.

"It's always the same," the Dutchman said. "If you are number nine at any club and can make the difference, I'm very happy.

"I love my players, especially when they score goals.

"He had problems with his Achilles and ankle and couldn't travel with us recently.

"You have to play another player, and [Orlando] Sa scored which was good.

"We did the same for this game and he said he could play so he plays because he is my main striker."

For his part Zamora hailed "hard work and togetherness" for the rousing finale.

He explained: "We've been working hard all season and haven't got the home results we want but this caps all our hard work.

"My ankle and opposite Achilles have been playing up - I've had to have a jab in it to sort it out and hopefully it's done it for a while.

"We want to do well - the Manchester United game wasn't like us at home (Fulham lost 5-0)...but the togetherness and resilience of the boys has shown tonight [Monday]."

On his own future with the club, Zamora added: "You press guys like to write whatever you want.

"A lot of it is blown out of all proportion - I've got a few years on my contract yet."
