The exes return on screen

History has seen that real life couples are in high demand by filmmakers and brands who try to cash in on their attractive chemistry and popular relationship status. But once the relationship goes kaput, the couple vocally refuses to talk about each other, so much that the filmmakers know it very well that roping the ex-lovers in the same project is almost impossible! But seems that 2012 is all set to change this trend!

Sample this: Ex-lovers and actors Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone will soon be seen in Ayan Mukherjee’s next, while rumoured ex couple Shahid Kapur and Priyanka Chopra are romancing each other in Kunal Kohli’s upcoming flick. Though Kareena is said to be paired with Akshay Kumar, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2 is also said to have Shahid. Similarly, former lovers John Abraham and Bipasha Basu are set to star in Race 2, albeit not opposite each other.

Curiosity is running high in the industry, as it awaits to see if exes manage to rake up that much chemistry on screen, despite their personal differences. “Yes, the interest level in these pairs is definitely high,” points out an industry insider.

There’s no denying that couples evoke as much interest, even more sometimes when they have broken off. But then these actors also realise that there are limited credible co-actors to work with and they can’t afford to hold a grudge and miss out on plum projects because of that. We can’t help but agree that it would be interesting to see how they manage that chemistry for sure!

Shahrukh Khan slaps Farah Khan’s husband at Sanjay Dutt’s bash‎

Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan is upset about a reported brawl between her superstar friend Shahrukh Khan and her husband Shirish Kunder at a high-profile party here.

The fight is said to have taken place at popular club Aurus during Sanjay Dutt’s success party for “Agneepath” Sunday-night-Monday morning.

“Shah Rukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem and that it means the person who is hitting has either a professional or personal crisis going on and it saddens me to see him doing the same,” Farah said in an official statement.

As the news about the fight gained momentum, IANS tried contacting Shah Rukh’s official spokesperson for a comment, but had not received any response so far.

However, Kunder took to Twitter to clarify that he is not planning to file any official complaint in this regard.

“Thanks for all your concern and wishes. We are very grateful. Contrary to rumours, we have no intention of filing an FIR or police complaint,” tweeted Kunder.

Apparently, while guests were having a ball, at around 4.30 a.m., Shah Rukh entered the venue straight after the Filmfare awards with three of his bodyguards. According to eyewitnesses, he headed towards Kunder and roughed him up.

“We didn’t know what was happening. We saw SRK enter. Then we saw him head towards Shirish from behind the director. SRK pulled Shirish down to the ground by his long hair. We were all shocked. We had never seen SRK behave this way before,” said an eyewitness.

“Before anyone could react, Baba Dewan, the owner of Aurus, ran in and intervened. SRK told Dewan to keep out. Dewan said the place belonged to him and he must intervene. The fight would’ve been prolonged had Sanjay Dutt not pulled SRK away from the ugly scene,” the eyewitness added.

Kunder apparently left immediately.

Kunder’s wife Farah Khan was one of Shah Rukh’s closest friends but they fell out a year back. Farah, who was shooting all night for Bela Sehgal’s “Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi”, got to know of the fight only when she returned home in the morning. – IANS

Look who’s caught in SRK-Shirish brawl!
Mumbai, Jan 30 (IANS) Jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali wouldn’t have thought that having a similar name as of choreographer-turned-filmmaker Farah Khan would some day prove to be a problem for her.

Ever since the news of a brawl between superstar Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Shirish Kunder has come out, the jewellery designer is inundated with calls asking her about the incident.

“Wish the press would do their homework. Got calls in the middle of work asking me if @iamsrk slapped my hubby. Had to clarify I am the jewellery designer,” she wrote on her Twitter page.

“So for all of you out here who are confused and following me because you don’t read and assume I am a film director, let me say I am a jewellery designer.

“And for those asking me for my comments. I would say “No comments” as I was not present at the party when the incident happened and had left.

“In order to be judgemental about a situation one needs to be present and know all the facts. Commenting for the sake of it makes no sense. Both Gauri and Farah Khan are my friends. I will never pick sides and I am sure they will sort it out in good time. So no more on this please,” she added

Boxer Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom getting engaged on January 29th, 2012

Amir Iqbal Khan is undoubtedly one of the top sports face of the current decade. The lightweight division champ although represents Britain in the ring but his Pakistani ethnicity is the main reason behind his immense popularity in this region.

The former unified WBA and IBF light welterweight champion has finally decided to settle down with his to be fiancee, Faryal Makhdoom. The couple are planning to get engaged on January 29^th, 2012 as the boxer revealed that he has spent an amount
of £100,000 on a diamond-studded ring for Faryal.

The 25-year-old who is quite active through his twitter page has also briefed that almost a thousand guests are expected on the wedding. Some of the top names on the guest lists read, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Ricky Hatton and David Haye.

Khan commented on Faryal “A lot of girls back home have said to me, ‘Your girl is beautiful’ — and that’s great because people can be so jealous. But Faryal is so humble. Anybody who meets her is going to fall in love with her. She’s
got no edge; she’s just a terrific person”.

Faryal, 20, on the other hand also holds high traditional values, ” I’m very family oriented even though I was born and raised in New York but my grandparents are in Pakistan – and a lot of my dad’s family are there”, she briefed.

She will be flying to England on Friday for the engagement party and will also spend a week with her husband-to-be and Amir will be more than happy to show her around Bolton.

He quoted, “I’m going to introduce her to a pasty barm, fish and chips – maybe even an ice cream if she’s lucky! I might also try to squeeze in a Bolton match just so that she cans see the venue before the big day – and make sure she likes it”.

Faryal revealed that the relationship went through the toughest phase in the beginning as she found it very hard to understand Amir’s Bolton accent.

She cited, “In the beginning I really couldn’t understand him. I was used to London accents and thought that’s how everyone spoke in Britain. But when Amir opened his mouth it was as if he was speaking a foreign tongue – so I just used to nod, agree with
whatever he was talking about and say, ‘Yeah’. “

She also briefed that Amir used the words like ‘daft’ and ‘innit’ and she had no idea what they meant. The gap between the two broke when Faryal visited Amir’s family in Bolton and spent time with his cousins.

One little difficulty that Khan might face is that Faryal does not like him inside the ring, “I never want to watch him fight live. I just couldn’t because I wouldn’t want to see him get hurt. After his last fight I started crying when I saw him. I just
can’t bear to see him like that and I don’t think I ever will”, she explained.

The couple are planning to settle down in Bolton and Faryal has no problem in leaving New York to spend the rest of her life with the youngest British World Champion ever.

Australia complete 4-0 whitewash

Aussies crushed India to register a comprehensive 298-run win to complete a series whitewash at the Adelaide Oval.

It took less than an hour for Australia to wrap up proceedings on the final day of their fourth Test against India in Adelaide, securing a 298-run win and with it a 4-0 series whitewash.

Heading into Saturday's play, it always looked to be a question of 'when' not 'if' the hosts would seal their fourth comprehensive victory.

Ryan Harris ensured that early inroads were made when he drew Ishant Sharma (two) into having a dab at a delivery that moved away from him, the edge was found and Brad Haddin did the rest.

Having provided stern resistance in the first innings, Wriddhiman Saha (three) offered little this time around, pushing forward at a fullish ball from Peter Siddle and edging to Haddin.

On a pair and having got three first-ballers in the series, Zaheer Khan appeared a walking wicket but he would not go down quietly, letting off a few heaves before he top-edged a pull off Ben Hilfenhaus to David Warner at short cover for 15.

Only four bowlers got a go on the final day and in a turn that has mirrored the series, with all the bowlers chipping in, it was Nathan Lyon who ended the contest when he had Umesh Yadav (one) caught behind.

Record opening for ‘Agneepath’, earns Rs 25 crore

The magic of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan seems to have worked once again. Karan Johar’s “Agneepath” has had a record opening day collection minting Rs.25 crore on the first day and surpassing the collections of recent blockbusters like “Bodyguard” and “RA.One”.

While Salman Khan’s “Bodyguard” earned Rs.22 crore, superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s mega-budget “RA.One” made Rs.18 crore on the opening day. But the Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt-starrer remake of the 1990 film of the same name, which released Thursday, has gone beyond.

Hrithik, who stepped into the shoes of megastar Amitabh Bachchan as Vijay, is excited that his hard work has paid off.

“WOW!!!! THANK u THANK u THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! Agneepath 1st day – 25cr!!!! My damaged bodyparts suddenly feel ALIVE, I feel like I can FLY now!!! Thank u people, I have the fuel now to make KRRISH EXPLODE!!!!” Hrithik wrote on his Twitter page.

Sanjay Dutt and the film’s lead actress Priyanka Chopra, are equally delighted with the positive response, and have thanked fans for the amazing response to the film.

“‘Agneepath’ has redefined the power of Indian box office for all of us. It’s heartening to see the strength of the Indian cinema audiences growing like this. We all were very confident of the film but for this kind of success and unprecedented number that it has posted on day one we must thank our audience,” said Priyanka.

Sanjay took to Twitter after a year, to share his sentiments about the appreciation towards the movie, and his role as the villain, Kancha Cheena.

“I am overwhelmed with the response and support of everyone. Thank you for loving me so much,” he wrote.

Since “Agneepath” was a Republic Day release, the theatres witnessed 90-95 percent occupancy.

“The film has had an excellent opening. The occupancy was around 95 percent. It was the most eagerly awaited and would be one of the biggest blockbuster,” said Anant Verma, director and business head, DT Cinemas.

However, he says it would be unfair to compare the new “Agneepath” with the original as they have been given a completely different treatment.

“You can’t compare the two films as they are shot differently and have different characters also. There is no connection between the two other than just the name,” he added.

Yogesh Raizada of Waves Cinema adds that all the characters have done complete justice to their characters.

“The response to the film has been rocking on first day. We have had 90 percent occupancy. All the actors have done complete justice to their characters whether it is Rishi Kapoor as Rauf Lala, Hrithik as Vijay or Sanjay as Kancha Cheena,” said Raizada.

The film, directed by debutant Karan Malhotra, and produced by Karan Johar, is expected to have a successful run at the box office in the coming days.

“Since there is no big movie releasing in the coming weeks, the film will work well,” he added. 

‘Agent Vinod’ is complete Indian hero – Saif Ali Khan

BollywoodWorld.com, Dismissing any similarities with fictional spy agent James Bond, Bollywood actor-producer Saif Ali Khan says his character in “Agent Vinod” is totally desi.

The much-awaited action-spy film, with Saif and his real life lady love Kareena Kapoor, is ready for release. And comparisons with the “James Bond” series are inevitable, says Saif.

“Any audience who comes to see the film will think that we have done an Indian James Bond. This is a very stupid thing to do because firstly, James Bond is a completely English character,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of the first poster of the movie.

“From the first scene of the film, you will realise that this is an Indian hero who is very different to the Bond character because we didn’t want to make a copy of the Bond film,” added Saif.

However, if “Agent Vinod” turns out to be a box office success, Saif might consider making sequels to it, a la the “James Bond” series, of which 22 films have been made so far. The 23rd is in the process of being made.

“If the film does well, it depends on the audience. If the picture becomes popular, then of course we will look forward to making a series,” said Saif.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the action-loaded film is slated to release March 23.
